This group is a deep dive into practicing listening to intuition. In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we call this “wise mind”. Wise mind is distinct from “emotion mind” and “rational mind”. Emotion mind is when we react from strong emotions or even fight-flight-freeze responses, and rational mind is when we act solely based on logic. Wise Mind is the center of DBT, but it is often missed in terms of how intrinsic to healing it truly is. Wise mind is the thread to your becoming, to your soul’s purpose.

What is this group about?

This group is a deep dive into practicing listening to intuition. In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we call this “wise mind”. Wise mind is distinct from “emotion mind” and “rational mind”. Emotion mind is when we react from strong emotions or even fight-flight-freeze responses, and rational mind is when we act solely based on logic. In Jungian psychology, intuition can be understood as messages from the Self-- the larger-than-ego guiding aspect of psyche. Often the Self emerges in dreams, gut feelings, synchronicity, or a knowing that cannot be explained. The Self is considered the road to fulfilling our life purpose.

This group is about listening to our intuition in a variety of ways in order to acquaint ourselves with the sound, sensations, and essence of this voice so that we have connection to our inner compass.

The benefit of having a clear inner compass is that we can trust ourselves while also considering where we might be “off”, need improvement, or where cultural conditioning has taken hold. A clear inner compass helps us build lives worth living. A clear inner compass helps us attune to our gifts for the world.

What will we do together?

We will meet for 1.5 hours weekly for 6 weeks as a small group to actively listen to our intuition through one-on-one coaching from me and through group practices.

In this group we will learn what intuition sounds, feels, and looks like (intuition “speaks” in many ways). We will explore listening to our bodies, dreams, and synchronicities as ways to hear intuition.

In addition to the weekly, virtual, small group experience, you will receive an audio recording of a lesson every week deepening into content from the group.

Why now?

The idea of “intuition” is thrown around a lot these days. It seems to be a catch-all for any strong inner voice. Yet the voice of intuition is not the same as our internalized social/cultural conditioning, trauma (fight/flight/freeze) responses, or implicit bias. Interpreting these inner voices can perpetuate the suffering of others as well as lead us off our own life course.

We are in times in which the tool of listening carefully to ourselves and others is a survival skill. It is important to be able to discern the voices within in order to engage with a full heart in the world.

These are times of psychological and physical intensity. It is harder to listen to our inner world when we are scared, threatened, or in denial. Yet with the support of a group we can start to listen to ourselves as a way to find our place in a turbulent world.

Learning how to listen to our intuition provides us with an inner compass to our personal sense of morality as well as a soulful life. I believe that we are all tasked with creating the world that we want to live in-- one that supports the survival and gifts of the human and more-than-human worlds. There is a change occurring in which external parental structures (government, economics, policy) are collapsing and morphing. We need to know what is ours to make happen in this new world, no matter how small or large, quiet or loud.
